Inspired by the legendary 1176 Peak Limiter, this FET-based compressor goes beyond simply controlling dynamics—it can add energy, sustain, clarity, and a polished studio-style feel to your guitar tone.
Designed by Brian Wampler, the Ego 76 combines the responsiveness of vintage FET compression with the flexibility of a modern pedal. It features dedicated Attack and Release controls, a Parallel Clean Blend, and a carefully voiced Tone control, giving you far more control than a typical stompbox compressor.
The Parallel Clean Blend lets you mix your unaffected guitar signal back into the compressed sound. This allows you to retain the natural dynamics and character of your playing while still getting the sustain, consistency, and tonal enhancement of compression.
The Ego 76 is equally useful for subtle always-on compression, adding sustain and punch to clean tones, or pushing compression harder for a more pronounced studio-style effect.
