A very special Advanced Jumbo Limited Edition honoring 100 years of Gibson flat-tops
Marking a full century of Gibson flat-top craftsmanship, Gibson Custom proudly unveils the Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Edition. Offered as part of a five-model Anniversary Collection, with just 100 examples of each instrument being produced, this rare and visually striking Advanced Jumbo is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, and designed to inspire players for decades to come.
This limited-edition Advanced Jumbo pairs rosewood back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top, delivering the recognizable voice of the original while adding a distinctive aesthetic. The back is outlined in multi-ply binding, while the top showcases multi-ply binding with abalone accents and an abalone rosette.
Its mahogany neck is shaped to the Historic AJ™ profile, and the bound rosewood fretboard carries 19 standard frets along with mother-of-pearl arrow inlays. The single-ply bound headstock features the vintage script “The Gibson” logo rendered in mother of pearl and is fitted with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover® open-back tuners.
A classic firestripe pickguard complements the top, and the rectangular, closed-slot rosewood bridge features pyramid-style carvings on the wings, mirroring early Gibson flat-top designs. It is set with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins.
Finished in a period-styled Cremona Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the Advanced Jumbo Anniversary Limited Edition comes equipped with L.R. Baggs™ VTC electronics, including an under-saddle piezo and active preamp. Player-friendly volume and tone controls sit discreetly inside the soundhole, remaining unobtrusive to the audience. Each guitar ships in a Gibson Custom hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Originally launched in 1936, the Advanced Jumbo was part of Gibson’s family of larger-bodied “advanced” models that offered greater output, enhanced projection, and a richer low-end response. With only a brief production run, the model remained relatively scarce but earned a reputation among discerning players for its exceptional sound and performance. Today, vintage Advanced Jumbos are widely considered among the most sought-after and best-sounding acoustic guitars ever built.
