A very special J-45 Limited Edition marking 100 Years of Gibson Flat-Tops
To commemorate a full century of Gibson Flat-Tops, Gibson Custom introduces the J-45™ Anniversary Limited Edition. Included in a five-model Anniversary Collection, with only 100 instruments available for each, this remarkable J-45 is handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, and designed to inspire players and collectors for decades to come.
This limited-edition J-45 pairs mahogany back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top, offering the familiar warmth and character that have defined the model, as well as exceptional visual appeal. The back is bordered by multi-ply binding, while the top showcases multi-ply binding with abalone and an abalone rosette.
Its mahogany neck features Gibson’s comfortable SlimTaper™ profile. The bound rosewood fretboard carries 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The single-ply bound headstock displays the vintage script-style “The Gibson” logo, inlaid in mother of pearl, and is completed with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover® open-back tuners.
A tortoise-shell-colored teardrop pickguard adds an unmistakable J-45 touch. The rosewood belly-up bridge features pyramid carving details reminiscent of early Gibson flat-tops and is fitted with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins.
Finished in a historic Cremona Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the J-45 Anniversary Limited Edition comes factory-equipped with L.R. Baggs™ VTC electronics, including a piezo under-saddle sensor and active preamp. Player-friendly soundhole-mounted volume and tone wheels remain discreet from the audience’s view. Each guitar arrives in a Gibson Custom hardshell case with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The J-45 remains Gibson’s best-selling acoustic of all time, celebrated for its rich, balanced voice, warm low end, and outstanding projection. Since its 1942 debut, this model, affectionately known as “The Workhorse,” has become one of the most recorded acoustics in history and the foundation of Gibson’s round-shoulder dreadnought family. This limited-edition release offers a rare chance to own a J-45 honoring 100 years of Gibson flat-top craftsmanship. Availability is extremely limited, so those who want one should act quickly
