A very special Dove Limited Edition celebrating 100 Years of Gibson Flat-Tops
Marking a century of Gibson flat-top craftsmanship, Gibson Custom is unveiling the Dove Anniversary Limited Edition. This release is part of a commemorative series honoring five legendary acoustic models, each offered in a run of only 100 instruments. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, this remarkable and highly collectible Dove™ is designed to inspire musicians today and well into the future.
This Anniversary edition pairs AA figured maple back and sides with a select bear claw Sitka spruce top, creating the unmistakable Dove voice alongside striking visual appeal. The back is outlined with multi-ply binding, while the top incorporates multi-ply binding accented with abalone, as well as an abalone rosette. I
ts mahogany neck is carved to a comfortable Round profile. A bound rosewood fretboard with 20 standard frets features split parallelogram inlays in mother of pearl. The single-ply bound headstock showcases the vintage script “The Gibson” logo, also rendered in mother of pearl, and is fitted with a bone nut and gold-plated Grover® tuning machines with keystone buttons.
The signature Dove pickguard displays the classic artwork, including a mother-of-pearl dove inlay. The rosewood Dove bridge continues the theme with two additional mother-of-pearl dove inlays, along with a bone saddle and TUSQ® bridge pins.
Finished in a vintage-inspired Cremona Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the Dove Anniversary Limited Edition comes craftory-equipped with L.R. Baggs™ VTC electronics featuring an under-saddle piezo sensor and active preamp. Player-friendly volume and tone wheels are mounted inside the soundhole for quick access while remaining discreet from the audience’s view. Each guitar ships in a Gibson Custom hardshell case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
Introduced in 1962 as Gibson’s second square shoulder model, the Dove was the company’s first dreadnought acoustic to feature a 25.5” scale length and maple body construction. More than six decades later, it continues to stand among the most admired and instantly recognizable acoustics in the world. Its storied history includes use by artists such as Tom Petty, Elvis, Alex Lifeson, John Mellencamp, and Frank Hannon, among many others.
