A Look At the Fender Ultra Stratocaster
THE FENDER ULTRA STRATOCASTER, THE NEW MODERN
It wasn't' all that long ago that we got the news Fender was discontinuing the long-standing Fender American Deluxe line, replacing it with the American Elite. Well, Fender has done it again, adding the high-end production lines guitar family tree, the American Elite line has been replaced by the Fender American Ultra line of guitars.
For many people, the change between the last generation American Deluxe series and the American Elite series was negligible at best. But the Fender American Ultra line of guitars is bringing some series changes to Fender's guitars and the Fender American Ultra Stratocaster is a serious tone machine, with comfort features that most players will love.

A QUICK LOOK AT THE BIG CHANGES TO THE STRATOCASTER
For the American Ultra line of Stratocasters, Fender really focused on the modern player that is looking for the best of what is available today without concern for vintage vibe or feel.
To start the feature train rolling, Fender has added their latest noiseless pickups to the Ultra Stratocaster. The new "Ultra Noiseless" pickups deliver authentic Fender single-coil sound without the 60-cycle hum normally associated with standard single-coil pickups.
A change to the historically complicated S-1 switching system is a welcome change. The new S-1 switch, on the three single-coil Stratocaster simply adds the neck pickup in any position that the neck pickup is not turned on.
Next up, is the new fast-playing neck. With enhanced rolled edges, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a smooth Ultra Satin back finish a “Modern D” neck shape and 10”-14” compound-radius fingerboard make for comfortable chording and effortless soloing. Fender may not have a reputation for fast necks, but this is a step in changing that opinion.
To round up the main changes that are taking the American Ultra Stratocaster to the next level is the most obvious change, the newly designed body back curves. These aggressive curves on the back of the guitar increase the comfort of that Stratocaster and allow hours of playing comfort while also opening up the upper frets a bit for better access.
THE BOTTOM LINE | FENDER AMERICAN ULTRA STRATOCASTER
For players looking for a Stratocaster that is benefitting from modern advancements, without concern for vintage appeal, the Fender American Ultra Stratocaster is a perfect choice. Modern changes in almost every part of the guitar have increased playability and tone. The American Ultra Stratocaster is a drastic upgrade from its predecessor the American Elite, and those upgrades will be appreciated by most players.
