Big Quinn, a longtime face in the montana punk scene, recruited a blues guitarist, a ska influenced bass player, and a punk rock drummer, and thus, The Broken Hearts band is formed. Bigsby Jones is a dynamic four-piece rock n’ roll band from the booming music scene of Bozeman, Montana. With drummer-singer-songwriter Mike DeJaynes behind the kit, studio owner and revered sound engineer Luke Flansburg on the bass, long time key player Grant Gilmore on electric piano and organ, and songwriter Tyler James on electric guitar and his self proclaimed “Spaceship”, this band is always a unique experience live. With three songwriters in the band, you can always expect new songs at each show which ensures a passionate performance and keeps this band moving their sound organically forward. Denny’s from Paradise Valley MT, home of the “Yellowstone” River, south of Livingston Montana, home to many writers, film people, and lots of “Trout”. Originally on Pacific Arts/Warner label owned by ex-Monkee Michael Nesmith, (1980’s) Denny now concentrates on music for TV and Film, and playing out in and around the college town of Bozeman Montana, with his band “Denny & the Resonators”. On many a Saturday night you might find him at his favorite haunt the Robin in the old 40’s Art Deco Hotel the “Baxter” on Main St. in Bozeman, singing and swaying with a dance floor full of followers to the rootsy blues being laid down by the band. Mark Logan- Classical guitarist. Mark began playing guitar at age twelve after seeing a guitar in a music shop window in Venice, Italy. His first exposure to guitar was in folk and rock styles. In 1984 he attended the Musician’s Institute in Hollywood, California. “Abstracts”is his first solo release. Logan currently teaches guitar and is working on his 2nd CD. Since forming in 1999, the Montana Guitar Ensemble has become Montana’s longest-standing and most prolific classical guitar ensemble. The group has produced four CDs, including MGE IV, their recent independently produced album.

The Ensemble has performed at numerous public concerts, weddings and receptions, art galleries, conventions, funerals, house concerts; fund-raisers, fine dining establishments, and special events. Running on Empty, Bozeman’s rock n’ roll and blues band is playing great fifties, sixties and seventies music in the Gallatin Valley.

Greg Holdeman is the band’s drummer, and has played in ten different bands over the past 35 years. Mike Olson plays lead guitar and was with the legendary Sgt Rock until the band retired in 2006. Bass player Ron Schimpf is a fixture in the Gallatin Valley, nailing his five string for 25 years with Sgt Rock – but has shorter fingers now due to an evil snowblower. Chris Arnett is Running on Empty’s singer and most pierced band member. John Cribb is the band’s founder and plays rhythm and synthesizer guitar. Jamie Wallace keeps the band in line by running great sound. Although Chris does most of the vocals, everybody sings and harmonies are a focus for the band.

At a recent wedding gig the groom had this to say: “You guys played an awesome show… all I heard the next few days from people was how good the band was. Actually you sort of overshadowed our wedding (just kidding)”.

The Dirty Shame have been rocking audiences at Night clubs/Bars, Weddings, Private Events, and Resorts for the past 2 years. From Traditional two-steppin’ ballads to rowdy rockin’ outlaw favorites, The Dirty Shame know how to please a crowd. Their sets contain well executed modern renditions of classics from Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash as well as catchy original material woven throughout. They recently opened for David Allen Coe.

The Members of The Dirty Shame come from a dense musical background. If you close your eyes while Brandon Hale is singing you might swear you are at a Willie Nelson Show. His voice transcends the music, taking listeners on a journey through smoky old bars and broken hearted cowboys drowning in a sea of whiskey. Dan Bradner soars on the lead guitar in a soulful country style with a rock and roll attitude. The rhythm section is rounded out by the tight syncopation of Dean Wakerlin on the drums and Mike Hoffman on the six string bass. The sound is completed by the recent edition of Tom Day of Johnny Steel fame on the pedal steel guitar.

The John Lowell Trio consists of acoustic guitar, mandolin and standup bass. This high energy group can get a crowd hopping with a fast fiddle tune, or dancing to a slow ballad. All three are lead vocalists, and their harmonies are smooth and tight.

THE MAX is a three-piece rock and roll band that has entertained and delighted audiences for almost 25 years. Since its inception in 1984, THE MAX has toured the U.S. extensively and has become a mainstay on the Bozeman and Livingston scene since 1994. With Kyle Brenner on guitar, Mike Young on drums, and Frank O’Connor on bass, this “power pop party rock” trio has built its name on solid musicianship, fun live shows, and a huge songlist.

The Montana Mandolin Society, founded by Dennis White, is based in Bozeman, Montana. This Grammy Nominated mandolin Ensemble does a variety of musical styles, from vintage 1900’s tunes, to Neo Classic contemporary compositions. This May will mark the one-year anniversary of the Helena, Montana based band, The Third Wheels. The band performs a montage of styles ranging from soul, Americana and reggae to acoustic hip-hop and Latin American “Juapango.” Marked by strong, original songwriting and a blending of genres and rhythms, the Third Wheels make an impact with their eclectic music.

Tom Catmull has been writing, recording, performing, eating and breathing music for about 12 years. He is originally from Spring, TX, but moved to Missoula, MT in 1994 where he currently resides on the Northside of town with is wife and two young sons. His performances are split between intimate solo acoustic venues and dancehalls where he performs with his 5-piece Americana-style band The Clerics. All along this merry road he has had the good fortune to share stages with the likes of Greg Brown, Robbie Fulks, Kelly Joe Phelps, Charlie Musselwhite and Asleep at the Wheel. The style of his own music usually lands somewhere between the blurred lines of country, and country swing, pop and folk. Its predictably tough to pin the music in one neat genre, but he is definitely an American roots songwriter and player

The 132 string trio! Veteran acoustic artists Tom Robison, Steve Marty and Lindsay Turnquist draw on Celtic tunes, Appalachian tunes, Latin tunes, original pieces, swing tunes and Contra dance music to create a sound that delights the ear and satisfies the soul. The trio makes use of guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, hammered dulcimer, fiddle, harp, and voice. Steve has been playing classical and folk guitar in the Gallatin Valley for a dozen years as a founding member of the Rosewood Guitar Consort and the Montana Mandolin Society. Lindsay is a founding and current member of the Montana Mandolin Society and is well known as a fine dance caller. Tom performs fiddle and Celtic harp regularly at local dances, concerts, restaurants and coffeehouses. Together the three offer a mix of traditional and improvisational, ancient and contemporary.

An Americana music group based in Livingston, Montana, Two Story Ranch brings twenty years of live entertainment experience and a huge repertoire of songs to every stage, from Hank Williams, Roger Miller, and Beaudleix Bryant, to Bob Dylan, Townes Van Zandt, Gillian Welch, John Prine and a fine catalog of original music.
Always soulful and spontaneous, the group casts its spell over audiences song by song, with natural, unaffected singing, beautiful instrumental solos, and expansive arrangements that offer plenty of room to soak up the nuance. Playing “everything that can be done with two guitars and a cello without getting arrested or shot,” the group features Sean Devine on acoustic guitar, Kevin Toll on electric guitar, and Kyle Brenner on cello.
With diverse backgrounds in nightclubs, coffeehouses and symphonic concert halls, Two Story Ranch is an excellent choice for smaller private events as well as larger mixed venues. The group has minimal technical requirements and offers flexible terms.

Western Skies has been described by some as a country rock band, a wild country band, and a band that plays everything. We like the phrase a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll. Western Skies is no doubt a party band. With more years combined experience than its oldest listener. Band leader Mark Longie put his years of experience to work, putting together one of Montana’s elite groups of musicians, to please all walks of life. Don’t be surprised if you hear everything, from Hank Williams classics, new country from Toby Keith, Brooks and Dunn, and Big and Rich, to ripping’ rock and roll like Aerosmith, ZZ Top, and Green Day. It’s a clear path forward for Anna now. “I’ve finally found what I love and want to pursue. It’s fun to let the whole world in on it.”

Anna keeps the carrot in front of her in her approach to music : “I will never completely learn how to play guitar, or anything else. I’ll never finish learning how to write a song. And that’s why I love music. It suits my personality because I will absolutely never get bored making music!”

Upon completion of her debut album, “A Simple Turn”, Anna changed her plans of attending pharmacy school to be a musician. She’s replacing her calculator with a tuner. She’s sold her books and is diving into a pile of records. She’s traded in her organic chemistry equations for chord progressions. Some might call that crazy and brash, but she has learned to follow her intuition. “If something feels right, I’m gonna go for it. I’m doing what’s right for me. Quitting school to pursue music has been a tough decision, but I’m ready to give it my all and there are so many great things I have to offer the world of music.” It’s a “Simple Turn” towards music. Anna wrote the title track about finding the good things in life, and especially about music and the avenue for expression that she is continuing to discover.

Anna’s music has taken her to many venues in Montana, including the Sweet Pea Festival, Gallatin Valley Mall, Hastings, and Borders in the Bozeman area, Livingston’s Owl Lounge, Butte’s Silver Dollar Saloon, and in Missoula, Sean Kelly’s Pub and the University Center.

Discovering at a young age that music was his passion, Bryan Wood spent two years playing guitar and performing lead vocals with several local bands. It wasn’t until the band “The Excluded” formed that Bryan found his style with a mix of acoustic and hard-edge alternative rock. The band released their CD “A Reason To Carry On” in August 2005. This was a great milestone for Bryan at 16 years old. This CD was a mix of acoustic and electric sounds and was enjoyed by young and old alike. Bryan is now performing his solo hard-edge acoustic music with plans to branch out in the Northwest. In a remarkably short time, Bryan has written over 40 songs. Songwriting, singing, and playing guitar is his way of communicating encouragement and hope to the world. He wants his music to be thought-provoking and bring hope to those that listen to his music.

Inspired by Romans 15:13: May the God of hope fill you all with joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Playing Bozeman’s most original rock music since 2000, Jetstream Cowboy blends noisy, hook-filled pop music with experimental instrumentation for a sound that is influenced by bands like Sonic Youth, Yo La Tengo, Guided By Voices and Modest Mouse. Full length album, “The Pattern Is Full,” was released to rave reviews in 2002 and was followed by a successful Northwest tour. Mourning Mary Celeste (formerly Dead in December) formed in late 2004 with guitarist Nate Lanes and bassist Joe Perez. By 2005 drummer Leroy Menehan and singer Dan Austin completed the group. The band had on goal in mind: to create music free of limitation. By late 2005, the group has had the priviledge of performing alongside national names like Big John Bates and the Voodoo Dolss and Montana’s finest like Minus My Thoughts, J.C.Auto, and Three Percent Rhino.

Metal/ neu-Metal (P.O.D., Tool, TFK) sounding Christian Rock band- does a mix of originals, covers, jam sessions, and worship gigs. We are a 4 piece currently looking for another guitarist to be a part of the band if possible. We are open to all kinds of gigging opportunities and will play pretty much anywhere. (and the little girl in the picture just kinda popped out of nowhere it’s just the 4 of us guys)

Tumbledown House originated in the rain-soaked streets of Portland, Oregon. Abundant untamed nightlife led to uncouth lyrics, living room recordings, and midnight rehearsals. Drawing heavily from backgrounds seeped in jazz, folk, outlaw country, and the avante-guard, the duo began coaxing the muse, confiding in the static hiss of a hot microphone, and turning to the twang of a well plucked guitar. Days seemed shorter, and the nights more sinister. After cutting their teeth in the seedy underbelly of the Portland scene, Tumbledown House turned to their transient ways and migrated back home to Bozeman, Montana. They currently reside on a quiet farm outside of town. Tumbledown House continues to perform in coffee shops, bars, brothels, bar mitzvahs, funerals, and exorcisms. They are currently recording and producing their first full-length album.
